LEVY STATEMENT FOR PAMPHLET

No one likes paying taxes; everyone wants the best medical/fire service.

This Levy is crucial in order to maintain fire/ambulance services to the Key Peninsula. The increase of 22 cents is equal to $22.00 a year for every $100,000.00/assessed property value.

Levy Failure means:

Reduction in service such as:

1) Stop programs (i.e.) ambulance stand-by at events, CPR classes, school programs;

2) Staffing (i.e.) cut Fitness Program, reduce daily staffing, reduce service to one paramedic ambulance/day, pull career staff to one station, and, as a last resort, eliminate jobs;  or

3) Reduce operational costs.  Number of vehicles, maintenance, fuel.

Levy passing will:

1) Address a 2010 budget shortfall of $192,000.00.

2) Allow funding from January through March prior to tax collections.

3) Allow a fund for the replacement of engines/tenders so the FD does not have to ask for a bond when replacements are needed.
